Next to Trex, TimberTech stands out as a leader in the composite decking industry. When it comes to building the outdoor space of your dreams, many sing its praises, and for good reason. They also do PVC decking. So, it’s clear why many Long Island homeowners are looking into TimberTech decking.

I wanted to look deeper into their products and give you some insights in this quick guide. Of course, pricing is always at the top of people’s minds when they search for materials. Let’s start there.

TimberTech Decking Pricing

There’s always a bit of a sticker shock when people look into composite decking. I recently took a look at what homeowners can expect to pay for Trex in 2025, and TimberTech decking is no different. It’s a higher initial payment, but it pays for itself in the long term. And the warranties are unbeatable.

RELATED: 4 Decking Calculators You Need to Know About

I put together a made-up scenario using their decking calculator to understand better the price you might have to pay for TimberTech:

A family of four with a space for a 12-by-16 deck (192 square feet) wants to build a deck to enjoy the summer evenings, eating outside and hanging out. They’ve decided TimberTech decking is the way to go. They spoke with a TimberTech decking representative and found out the following:

  • Standard decking starts at $2,600. They can choose from the Prime+ and Prime Collections. They’ll get a 25-year limited warranty and a stain warranty at this price point. But over ten years, the savings over pressure-treated lumber is little to none.
  • Knowing the savings aren’t too much with the standard TimberTech decking, they move on to the Upgrade option. This option gives them access to the Reserve, Harvest, Terrain, and Terrain+ lines. Ipe Wood would be a comparable product, and it would almost double the maintenance costs. So, the family feels pretty good with this option –— especially since it’s a 30-year warranty. It starts at $3,800, so not too bad.
  • Still, they shop the top-of-the-line Vintage collections. The 50-year limited warranty is hard to pass up, but the savings over 10 years aren’t the same; the initial price starts at $4,200.

The family does what many of us do when shopping for things. We select the middle option. Now, the price of the TimberTech decking materials usually only accounts for 20 percent of the project’s total costs. The labor and the substructure are the more expensive pieces. So once it’s all said and done, this family is looking somewhere between 12 to 20 grand to complete the project with TimberTech decking.

Price predicting is one of those things that is hard to pin down in our industry, which is why we do free 3D quotes. Factors like railing, the yard’s grade, and permits all play into it.

Back to the hypothetical family: they’ll be happy with their new deck because it’s so low maintenance, which is why I always lean toward Trex on projects. Once done, it’s easy to enjoy, and you don’t have to worry about it.

TimberTech Collections

Homeowners can choose from TimberTech’s composite decking portfolio. They offer seven collections, and I wanted to categorize them and provide a brief overview.

Premium Collections

Legacy uses advanced color-blending technology to produce dramatic wood grain patterns similar to cathedral styles found in exotic hardwoods. The four-sided Alloy Armour Technology® cap in the Legacy line is a really cool defense against fading. It also prevents mold growth.

TimberTech’s Reserve collection has some great multi-tonal finishes. They replicate premium hardwoods and look completely natural. These boards can stand up to scratches and stains, too. They truly are top-notch.

Mid-Tier Options

Terrain+ upgrades the traditional Terrain line by offering deeper color saturation and better resistance to stains and scratches. TimberTech’s proprietary Mold Guard Technology™ has a four-sided cap that prevents fungal growth in humid conditions. (Long Island homeowners would definitely benefit from this technology).

The Terrain collection’s original line features nature-inspired colors alongside subtle grain patterns that look realistic while providing dependable protection.

Budget-Friendly Solutions

Both Prime and Prime+ come with three-sided caps. They’re durable. They’re more affordable. Premier boards have an edge over the Prime collections when it comes to color-blending.

TimberTech Decking Warranty Protection

TimberTech provides industry-leading warranties that cover premium and mid-tier collections for 30 years and budget-friendly lines for 25 years. The warranty coverage extends to structural damages and discoloration.

TimberTech Decking Versus Wood

Traditional wood dominated the decking market for generations. That’s obvious. Once composite decking arrived, everything changed. A deck with little to no maintenance? People started using it left and right.

Even with proper maintenance, traditional wood decking starts to show signs of weathering very early. And it only gets worse with time: warping, splitting, molding, and fading all come into play. TimberTech’s decking design ensures lasting structural performance and visual appeal for decades. The company’s specialized capping technology offers protection from moisture and UV damage and resistance to everyday wear that wood cannot achieve.

Maintenance Requirements

How does all this play out in reality? Here’s a quick breakdown of how different materials stack up against TimberTech decking.

Wood Decking Maintenance: Wood decking needs yearly sanding followed by staining and sealing.

Pressure-Treated Wood: Chemical treatments are necessary to protect pressure-treated wood from insect damage and decomposition.

Cedar/Redwood: Wooden decks made from cedar or redwood need consistent refinishing to maintain their appearance and avoid cracking.

Exotic Hardwoods: Maintaining the appearance of exotic hardwoods requires customized oils and treatments.

TimberTech Composite: Users should clean TimberTech Composite only once in a blue moon with soap and water.

See? The difference is clear. You’ll save yourself time and money with TimberTech decking. It’s also sustainable. It’s made of recycled materials, including reclaimed wood fibers and recycled plastics, that typically end up in landfills. Their production method prevents millions of pounds of waste.

Plus, TimberTech also offers Advanced PVC decking. Again, you’ll never have to sand, stain, or seal this type of material. They also offer multiwidth boards with their PVC decking. The boards come in 3.5, 5.5, and 7.25-inch options. These variations allow homeowners to create unique patterns in their decks.

The Long-Term Value of TimberTech Decking

The Advanced PVC decking materials come with a 50-year, limited warranty. The total lifetime cost benefits from TimberTech’s composite decking warranties and minimal maintenance needs outweigh the recurring expenses for maintenance supplies, repairs, and wood replacement.

TimberTech’s engineered composite decking offers homeowners clear benefits compared to traditional wood options because it combines long-lasting beauty, impressive performance, and minimal maintenance demands.

Quick Summary

TimberTech decking is impressive. I gave you a quick glimpse into their pricing using a typical scenario I see when building decks. With any pricing, it’s important to remember they often just share what you’ll spend on materials.

The bigger costs come through labor and what it takes to work on the substructure — if that’s a need for your deck.

TimberTech offers seven composite decking collections. Their Advanced PVC options, warranties, and lifetime values are incredible.
